Encaustic paintings are tranquil and captivating. Made of beeswax, damar resin, and oil paint, the paintings involve multiple layers of melted wax being heated and "burnt in" to the layer below. These ethereal layers are only the beginning of the delight of owning an encaustic painting. The delicate smell of beeswax and the sensual texture make these paintings a multisensory experience.

The word encaustic originates from the Greek word enkaustikos which means to burn in. The works are colorfast and stable well beyond 160 degrees Fahrenheit. It is best to keep your piece out of direct sunlight, hot auto interiors or freezing temperatures.

My goal is to create works that create a sense of wonder and peace in the viewer. I’m drawn to things graceful and genuine that release us from the harsh realities of daily living. This medium is ancient and yet always new and changing. My hope is that my work will bring you as much pleasure to own as they have brought me to create.
